July 2006
The 2006 8th Annual Roxbury Film Festival will run July 26-30 showcasing independent films made by filmmakers of color from Boston and other major cities. The films will be screened at the Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts College of Art, Northeastern University and Hibernian Hall.
We feature a special showcase of films from young filmmakers from the Boston area as part of RFF. If you are a young filmmaker and would like to submit your film to be considered for the 2006 film festival download an application from our website at www.roxburyfilmfestival.org.
April 2006
The 2006 3rd Youth Edition Roxbury Literary Annual will be published in early April. The Roxbury Literary Annual is a collection of poems, short stories and essays written by teens from the Greater Boston area that work, attend school or have ties to Roxbury. With funding from the Boston Globe Foundation we held a Creative Writing Camp that took place February 21-24. The submission deadline for the 2006 RLA has closed but stay tuned for the call for entries to be posted on this website next fall.
Copies of the 2006 Literary Annual will be available April 15th. To purchase previous editions of the RLA click here to download the order form or purchase a book at the following stores: A Nubian Notion, Jamaicaway Books, Frugal McDoogal, Black Library Booksellers and Brookline Booksmith.
March 2006
The Tech/Design Education program* will begin at the end of March and be held twice weekly for 12 weeks in 2 hour sessions. The program will provide training in theater lighting and sound. You will learn what it takes to become a theater technician/designer and have the opportunity to use these skills during performances at Roxbury Century for Arts at Hibernian Hall. We will also visit other performance centers and speak with professionals and admission officers at local colleges.
Those interested in participating in the Tech Design program should contact Jon Bonner at JBonner@madison-park.org or (617) 541-3900 x2324.
*(This is a pilot program. Pending funding, we will launch a full-version of the program in Fall 2006.)
